Premier League giants Liverpool have, on Saturday afternoon, been dealt the latest in a lengthy sequence of blows on the personnel front.

Reds on top

Jurgen Klopp’s men are of course currently locked in action at Anfield.

After maintaining the club’s unbeaten start to the campaign courtesy of a 2-0 downing of Preston North End during the week, the Reds turned their attentions back towards matters on the Premier League front, in a meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion.

And, as things stand on Merseyside, Liverpool look well on their way to making it five successive wins since the latest international break.

A goal inside five minutes – netted by Jordan Henderson – currently separates the sides on Saturday afternoon.

After Mohamed Salah was set free down the right, the in-form Egyptian pulled the ball back to the edge of the area, where the arriving Henderson was on hand to bend a pinpoint effort into the far top corner:

*Update* – Sadio Mane has since doubled the hosts’ advantage.

Keita blow

As outlined above, however, amid an otherwise positive day’s work thus far, Liverpool have also been dealt an altogether concerning blow.

This came on the personnel front, when, just inside twenty minutes, Naby Keita was forced to limp from the field of play, clutching his right hamstring:

Keita, who was actually viewed as a doubt to feature at all today after being stretchered off at Old Trafford last weekend, joins an ever-lengthening midfield injury list at Anfield.

The likes of Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara and James Milner missed out altogether versus Brighton, whilst Keita’s participation in Liverpool’s return to Champions League action in midweek now looks very much in doubt, too.
