Liverpool blow as Jurgen Klopp confirms two key midfielders likely to miss out vs Brighton

Liverpool vs Brighton

Liverpool and Brighton will face off at Anfield at 3 pm UK time on Saturday.

The clash should be an enthralling one as the two outfits play some of the most eye-catching, attacking football in the Premier League at present.

Liverpool, after seeing off Preston in the League Cup earlier this week with a largely youth-orientated side, head into the game with Brighton looking to continue their unbeaten run in 2021/22, which now stands at a very impressive 14 games in all competitions.

Despite being unbeaten in the PL, though, Jurgen Klopp’s side are actually still only 2nd in the Premier League at the time of writing, with Chelsea, who have a fairly easy game against Newcastle this week, top by a point.

As a result, Liverpool will need to secure all three points on Saturday to keep the pressure on the Blues.

Graham Potter’s side will be no pushover, however, with the Seagulls currently 5th in the league and in possession of a solid defensive record.

Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool team news

Ahead of Saturday’s game, Jurgen Klopp would speak to the press on Saturday.

The German discussed a number of topics in his press conference, including team news.

Central midfield has been Liverpool’s biggest problem area so far this term. Harvey Elliott is out long-term, whilst all of James Milner, Curtis Jones, Naby Keita, Thiago and Fabinho have had issues of late.

When speaking on Friday, Klopp would confirm that Keita, who was stretchered off vs Manchester United last week, is ready. However, Fabinho and Thiago look to be serious doubts vs Brighton, with the Liverpool boss stating that the Brazilian is not back in team training yet, whilst Thiago is not ready yet:

“With Fabinho it doesn’t look good, it’s a bit complicated to keep him out, probably. No team training yet. Thiago trained in the whole session, but not ready to play tomorrow unfortunately.”
