Liverpool amongst clubs eyeing Aston Villa player who has decided not to sign new contract
Liverpool are said to be showing an interest in Aston Villa’s Carney Chukwuemeka.
Who is Carney Chukwuemeka?
Carney Chukwuemeka would join Aston Villa’s youth ranks back in 2016 from Northampton.
The 18-year-old has since featured 26 times for Villa’s under-18s. In said ties the central midfielder scored 10 and assisted eight.
Then, after being promoted to under-23 level, Chukwuemeka has scored three and assisted five in 27.
And, after shining at youth level, Chukwuemeka was handed his senior debut for the Midlands-based outfit last season and has since notched another three outings this term.
The teenager is a central midfielder by trade and he has played most of his games in this role. However, he can also play as an attacking mid or, on occasion, as a centre-forward.

Now though, despite Chukwuemeka clearly being a bright talent that has earned under-17 and under-18 England caps, it appears as though Aston Villa could be set to lose the rising star.
As per the Liverpool Echo citing The Guardian, Chukwuemeka has reportedly decided not to sign a new contract with the club, leaving England’s top clubs on high alert.
The midfielder has become frustrated with the lack of first-team opportunities at Villa and fears they will rely on established players and new signings at the expense of youngsters.
Given the money spent at Villa of late and the clear ambitions of the owners, it is easy to see why Chukwuemeka may think this way.
And whilst it may be a loss for Villa, it could be a gain for one of the Premier League’s elite as Liverpool and both Manchester clubs are said to be interested in Chukwuemeka’s services.
