Leonard Ellerbe Gives an Update on Gervonta Davis’ Return

Gervonta Davis continues to devastate multiple divisions in pro boxing. Finishing the WBA Super lightweight champ in the 11th round, ‘Tank’ emerged from his most recent fight against Mario Barrios as a three-division champion.

The 26-year-old carries all the momentum, momentum that he plans to utilise as he hopes to fight a couple more fights this year. Speaking to the press following the fight, promoter Leonard Ellerbe said that Davis would make an appearance in the ring soon enough.

“Tank’s gonna be fight again definitely this year. Before the end of the year. 4,5 months, he’ll be back,” he said.

Gervonta Davis is a formidable name in the lighter weight division. Accumulating a massive following due to his exceptional knockout ability, he will only gain more fans in the wake of this blistering triumph.

Ellerbe already says that Davis was able to generate more money from his fight than his contemporaries. “There is nobody out there selling arenas.

“His pay scale is different. He makes more money than all of those guys and probably all four of them combined,” he asserted.

“Who wouldn’t want to see this guy? Who wouldn’t pay to see this guy? There is not one fan who left this arena tonight or who tuned on pay-per-view around the world who wasn’t excited or wanted to see him again,” Ellerbe exclaimed.

Davis has been fairly active in his career. He continues to build on his legacy as he improves his record and knocks more opponents out.

By knocking a champion out in the way that he did, Davis put all the lighter divisions on notice. One can expect him to take on bigger names in his next fight.

Fighters like Ryan Garcia, Vasyl Lomachenko, Teofimo Lopez Jr., Devin Haney, await the young three division champion as he plans to drop down to 135 for his next fight.

Ellerbe has already made it clear that Davis will look to check in on his name moving forward. Fighting a guy with a name as popular as his, the Baltimore fighter would look forward to make more bank in his next fight.

It could be expected that ‘Tank‘ sits out for the next few months and figure out how the lightweight division is looking before making a move.
