Leicester City have bid accepted for Jannick Vestergaard

Brendan Rodgers and the Leicester City hierarchy have moved quickly to fill the void left by Wesley Fofana’s serious injury today, as the club has had their £15-million bid for Southampton’s Danish international center-back accepted by the St. Mary’s outfit.

With Fofana expected to miss the vast majority of the season after being on the receiving end of a horror tackle in a pre-season friendly against Villarreal, the absence of the French youngster from the backline was a major cause for concern that has now all but been remedied.

It was reported earlier this morning that the Foxes had tabled an acceptable offer, and the speed with which a deal may be concluded could see the Dane make his debut for the club at the weekend against Wolves at the King Power Stadium.

Brendan Rodgers drops hint at James Maddison’s future

Leicester City manager was not his usual bullish self recently when it comes to his hardline stance surrounding the future of key attacking midfielder James Maddison.

The England international has been heavily linked with interest from Premier League giants Arsenal this season amidst the Gunners’ attempts to arrest their creative struggles, and for the first time, Rodgers has conceded that the club will have to be prepared to lose key players to bigger fish.

“It’s about having a sense of realism, knowing that at some point it will happen. I think at this moment in time, Leicester City is a very attractive place to be.

If you want to develop as a player, work in world-class training facilities and be a part of a real community club with a family feel, then this is a great place for you. But having been at so-called big clubs, I also understand what the draw of them can be for a player.

For us, it’s just about developing this football club.” [quotes via SkySports]

Though the Gunners remain linked with a possible move for the England international, they have also been credited with interest in the likes of Real Madrid’s Martin Ødegaard despite his exit potentially being blocked due to an injury to Toni Kroos, Olympique Lyonnais’ Houssem Aouar, as well as more recent links to interest in Toulouse’s young attacker Amine Adli.

Rachid to make permanent move to Besiktas after an impressive loan period

Algerian international Rachid Ghezzal is close to completing a full move away from Leicester City this summer via reports on TurkishFootball.

Ghezzal has been on the books at the King Power Stadium since he completed a €14-million move from AS Monaco in 2018-19 but failed to make an impression in England in his debut season, logging just 3-goals (one in the Premier League) across a combined 23-appearances.

He had similar misfortunes the following season during a loan period with Serie A outfit Fiorentina, managing just a single goal in 21-outings, but it was this past season on loan at Besiktas where he hit 8-goals and an impressive 18-assists in 31-league appearances for Kara Kartallar.

Per the cited report, Ghezzal is expected to sign a 4-year contract at Vodafone Park, but no other financial details were disclosed but a fee in the region of £4-million has been mooted.
