Leicester boss provides update on Fofana’s ‘horrendous’ injury/Confirms Unai Emery’s apology
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has, on Thursday afternoon, provided an insight into the extent of the injury picked up by defender Wesley Fofana.
Fofana and co. were back in action on Wednesday night.
As the Foxes step up their preparations for the fast-approaching new season, Rodgers’ men welcomed Europa League holders Villarreal to the King Power Stadium, for a highly anticipated friendly clash.
And, when all was said and done in the East Midlands, the 90 minutes did not disappoint.
A pulsating affair, during which Leicester raced out to a 3-0 lead, later saw Villarreal pull two back, albeit en route to an eventual defeat.
Caglar Soyuncu, Harvey Barnes and Ayoze Perez were all on target for the hosts, who are set to get their campaign proper underway this weekend, in a Community Shield showdown with Manchester City.

As outlined above, though, unfortunately, it was not the action in front of goal which ultimately proved the main takeaway from Wednesday’s King Power clash.
Instead, this came in the form of a nasty injury picked up by Leicester defender Wesley Fofana.
Late in proceedings, a completely needless challenge on the part of Villarreal’s Fer Nino in the middle of the park saw the young attacker leave Fofana grounded, and in evident pain.
A stretcher, in turn, was quickly produced, as the serious nature of the latter’s issue became increasingly clear.
And, as outlined above, on Thursday afternoon, Brendan Rodgers has provided an update on the situation. The news, however, is far from encouraging.
Speaking to the media, the Leicester boss explained:
‘He fractured his fibula. Horrendous injury. Devastated for him. Huge loss. Medical team fantastic. Trauma doctor put his ankle back. Another scan today as ankle was so swollen. That will give clear indication about how long he’s going to be out.’
🗣 “He fractured his fibula. We’re devastated for him.”
