Leeds pair send messages to Harvey Elliott as Liverpool star absolves Pascal Struijk of blame
Two members of Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United squad have taken to social media over the last 24 hours, to send well-wishes to Liverpool starlet Harvey Elliott.
Reds dealt blow
The name of midfielder Elliott of course took centre stage in the English media on Sunday evening.
Unfortunately for both Liverpool and the 18-year-old, though, this came for all the wrong reasons.
Jurgen Klopp and co. made the trip to Elland Road for a Premier League showdown with Leeds, eyeing a spot alongside Manchester United and Chelsea at the Premier League’s summit.
And, when all was said and done in West Yorkshire, this is precisely what the Reds managed, courtesy of a fully deserved 3-0 win.

Putting a major damper on an otherwise fine day’s work for Liverpool, however, was a serious injury picked up by the aforementioned Elliott.
After what appeared on first viewing as a fairly innocuous challenge on the part of Leeds’ Pascal Struijk in the middle of the park, it quickly became clear that Elliott had come out the worse.
In turn, following a lengthy stoppage in play, the midfield talent was stretchered from the pitch, amid deep concern on the part of players, fans and coaching staff alike.
It has since been confirmed that Elliott is set to go under the knife, having suffered a dislocated ankle at Elland Road:

‘Thoughts are with you’
Elliott himself, meanwhile, has openly admitted to being ‘overwhelmed’ by the messages of support sent in his direction by fans, in the 24 hours since Sunday’s incident.
And, as outlined above, two individuals to have today joined in the flood of well-wishes come in the form of a pair of Leeds stars.
First up was Struijk, the man of course involved in the challenge which ultimately caused the Liverpool man’s injury.
Taking to Instagram, the versatile stopper confirmed that his ‘thoughts are with’ Elliott, having ‘never meant’ to cause the up-and-coming talent any harm:

And following Struijk was Peacocks teammate Junior Firpo, who was spotted doing his best to comfort the stricken 18-year-old as he lay grounded on Sunday evening:

Significantly when it comes to the former, Elliott has also pushed a message of his own on social media, completely absolving the no doubt devastated Struijk of any blame, after the Dutchman was targeted by members of the Liverpool fanbase for his actions:
‘Wasn’t his [Pascal Struijk] fault what so ever.’
‘Neither was it a red card just a freak accident but these things happen in football. I’ll be back stronger 100%. Thanks for all the support.’
