Leeds boss Marsch provides Bamford & Phillips updates as fresh injury concern revealed before Leicester
Newly-appointed Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch has, on Thursday, provided a fitness update on his squad ahead of the club’s upcoming meeting with Leicester City.
First on the agenda, unsurprisingly, was the latest on Patrick Bamford.
Hitman Bamford, such a key contributor to the Peacocks’ impressive top-flight return last time out, has of course endured a nightmare campaign this time round, owing to a host of fitness issues.
In turn, it will no doubt come as a boost to all associated with the club to hear of the English international returning to training this week, alongside both Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of his debut on Leeds’ bench this weekend, Jesse Marsch revealed that all three are back ‘on the pitch and working’ alongside the rest of his newly-inherited squad of stars.
Patrick Bamford is involved in training today. Also, Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper. “On the pitch and working. Closer and closer [although] not ready for Saturday.”

Bamford, for his part, could even be involved in some capacity on Saturday, when the Yorkshire outfit make the trip to the King Power Stadium for a Premier League meeting with Leicester City.
Stopper sidelined
Alongside the positive news surrounding all of Bamford, Phillips and Cooper, came some altogether less positive news on the wellbeing of a key member of Leeds’ backline.
The player in question? Diego Llorente.
As per the reliable Phil Hay of The Athletic, Spanish international Llorente was forced to sit out training on Thursday owing to an injury problem.
The 28-year-old, in turn, is viewed as a major doubt to feature against Leicester in 48 hours’ time.
Llorente hasn’t trained today and is a doubt for Leicester on Saturday. #lufc
