He bagged a bachelor’s degree in French language from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU), Ile-Ife in 1975. He also studied Law at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986. He established his legal firm with a senior colleague in 1989 named Edu & Mohammed before he ventured into politics. Alhaji Lai Mohammed is a businessman and a very active politician. He is a respected member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Nigeria.

In 2008, Alhaji Mohammed was made Chairman of Optmedia Limited, a subsidiary of Afromedia Plc. He also served as a director of Afromedia Plc. He worked as the Public Relations Officer with the Nigerian Airport Authority for 10 years. He is also a known member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Political Career of Alhaji Lai Mohammed
Lai Mohammed served as Chief of Staff to former governor of Lagos state, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In December 2002, Alhaji Lai Mohammed was a candidate in the gubernatorial elections of 2003 in Kwara State under the platform of the Alliance for Democracy.
He was also the National Publicity Secretary to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), a post which he held until when he was appointed and assigned the portfolio of the Minister of Information in Nigeria by the Senate.
