Laal Singh Chaddha trailer: Aamir Khan’s Forrest Gump adaptation promises to be a touching drama

Laal Singh Chaddha the trailer is here. On Sunday, production house Aamir Khan Productions unveiled a two-minute, 45-second trailer for the Hindi adaptation of Tom Hanks’ cult comedy-drama. Forrest Gump, itself based on the novel of the same name by Winston Groom, to pique the curiosity of fans. It introduces us to the titular protagonist (Aamir Khan), a low-intellected simpleton with autism. He is innocence personified and believes in being happy even in difficult circumstances. Chaddha is apparently in love with her friend (Kareena Kapoor Khan), who considers him a good person but knows she can never be with him. Going by the trailer, this is likely to be a bit different from Forrest Gump as the plot has apparently been altered to suit Indian sensibilities.

Besides Khan and Kareena, the Laal Singh Chaddha the cast features Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya in key roles. The trailer, however, doesn’t reveal much about their characters. Chay’s association with the project has garnered a lot of attention as he is a household name in Telugu cinema, having starred in blockbusters such as romantic dramas Majili and Love Story. Expect him to bring something special to the table if the narrative gives him ample room to shine. The film is directed by Advait Chandan of secret superstar fame from a screenplay by Atul Kulkarni. Kiran Rao, Khan, Ajit Andhare and Jyoti Deshpande are the producers of the film.

Laal Singh Chaddha is Khan’s first outing in nearly four years as he was last seen in an action-packed adventure drama Hindostan thugs, which fell short of expectations despite opening a response at the Indian box office. It will also be Kareena’s first outing since the 2020 comedy-drama Medium Angrezi, a commercial failure. Trade experts believe it has the potential to become a major draw as it is aimed at family audiences and apparently deals with significant events from the country’s past.
