Kurt Zouma’s West Ham move off

Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma’s proposed move to West Ham United has collapsed following a failure to agree personal terms. In a tweet put out by the reliable @exWHUemployee, subsequently confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, the Hammers are already moving onto other centre back targets.

Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic is thought to be among the options that David Moyes and co. are considering.

Bad news for Chelsea’s chase of Jules Kounde?

These updates will come as a huge blow to Chelsea’s pursuit of Jules Kounde. Zouma was thought to be part of a deal for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde initially, but rejected the move as he preferred to remain in London.

This, in turn, alerted West Ham United to his potential availability, with the Hammers attempting to swoop on a bargain. However, they could neither agree a transfer fee for, nor personal terms with the Chelsea defender.

As a result, Chelsea’s bid for Jules Kounde has stalled. Zouma was thought to be vital for the deal, both in terms of freeing up a squad space in west London and also in terms of his valuation. The 25 million pounds that the Frenchman would have fetched could have been put towards Kounde, or alternatively, the player could have been used in part exchange for the Sevilla man.

However, with neither option seemingly suiting Zouma, it appears as though a deal for Kounde has reached an impasse, something that all parties will be hoping to resolve in the coming days.
