Klopp gives update on two key Liverpool stars ahead of Merseyside derby

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp gave an update on his Reds squad ahead of the Merseyside derby tomorrow at Goodison Park, with key updates regarding both Naby Keita and Joe Gomez.

When speaking to the club’s official website, Klopp was confident that both stars will return to full training next week;

“Joe is in a really good moment. He is doing really well, he is doing a lot of stuff outside, so hopefully next week he can be in training.

I hope the same for Naby, pretty much – that he will be in training next week as well, but there’s no news.”

The Liverpool boss also gave an update on youngster Curtis Jones as well as star center-forward Roberto Firmino;

“There’s no real update [on Curtis], so we have to wait. I think once every two weeks they always make another examination. Curtis is completely fine, but we have to be careful with it and so we cannot rush it. I think the next test is tomorrow and then we will know more.

Bobby is good but he is still a couple of weeks away from being fully back, but he is doing pretty much everything just with the extent of the injury we have to be careful, but it’s all fine.”

Liverpool set to raid Goodison Park

Liverpool and Everton are primed to resume their bitter rivalry in another instalment of the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park tomorrow, with the Reds looking to hunt down both Chelsea and Manchester United as the race for top spot continues.

The Reds are the surefire favorites to take all three points off Rafa Benitez’s Toffees on the back of successive 4-0 Premier League wins against Arsenal and Southampton at Anfield, as well as their comfortable 2-0 win against FC Porto in the Champions League.

As for Everton, Benitez’s outfit is in freefall since a bright start to the campaign that saw them post a 4-1-1 record in their opening six fixtures.

Since then, the Toffees have not banked a single three-point haul, losing five of their last seven and plummeting down to fourteenth in the table.

With a swath of injured across the first-team, it should be Liverpool that keep the good times rolling on the red half of the city.
