Kieran Trippier set to be announced as Newcastle’s first signing under new owners
Newcastle are on the verge of completing their first signing since the SAPIF took charge of the club back in October of 2021.
Trippier excels with Atletico Madrid
The player in question is, of course, Atletico Madrid and England right-back, Kieran Trippier.
On the back of a fairly disappointing campaign with Tottenham, Kieran Trippier signed for Atletico Madrid in 2019.
The Spaniards are believed to have paid around £20m to bring the Englishman to the Wanda Metropolitano.
The right-back went on to enjoy a solid debut campaign in La Liga, which saw him quickly recalled to the England set-up after he was dropped.
2020/21 was then a superb campaign for Tripper. He would feature 28 times in the league, providing six assists along the way as Atletico Madrid saw off FC Barcelona and Real Madrid to clinch their latest La Liga title.

Kieran Trippier set to complete Newcastle switch
Now though, Trippier is seemingly set to return to England with Newcastle.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Trippier deal is now sealed, with the paperwork signed between Atletico and Newcastle:

The fee Newcastle are set to pay for the veteran defender is not yet clear, but reports suggest it is somewhere around £12m plus add-ons.
