Kevin Durant Blasts Jackie MacMullan Following Fake Quote Fiasco

Since the inception of Twitter, NBA players are able to express their opinion more freely. They can also interact with fans and engage in debates. And there is no player who makes the most out of it like Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant.

The 2014 MVP often replies to fans, and has built a reputation for always speaking his mind. Durant never holds back, especially when he sees comments against him or about him. The latest person to fall victim to his backlash is NBA anaylst Jackie MacMullan.

In a recent podcast with Bill Simmons, MacMullan spoke about KD’s ambitions with the Nets. She said that Durant’s “genuine goal is to win 3 championships” but Durant called her out. He talked about how he would never have a conversation like this with her, and wasn’t happy with how it was framed.

Kevin Durant misses out on a ring in his first season since injury return

After getting injured in the 2019 NBA Finals, Durant had to sit out for the entire 2019-20 season. He took his time to recover and returned directly for the 2020-21 season. Despite coming out of a career threatening injury, he looked as good as ever, and had a stunning season. He made the Nets a top team once again and the arrival of James Harden made them title favourites.

Everything was going well for them until Game 1 of the Eastern conference semifinals. Harden got injured in Game 1 and then Kyrie Irving also had an injury a few games later. Durant carried the short handed Nets to a Game 7 but unfortunately ended on the losing side. So his first season since his return ended in a second round exit, but this will only fire him up more next year.

The Nets might not be as deep next season as they were this time, but they will still have their Big 3. And with Durant spearheading this monstrous attack, they will always be a top contender for the title. Fans will hope they can stay injury free in the postseason because at their best, no team will be able to stop all three of them.

While he may have denied MacMullan’s quote, but Durant will be keen on winning a few rings with the Nets before hanging up his sneakers.
