Usain Bolt has spoken highly of Bromell. The Jamaican has kept a close watch over the American and sees huge potential in him. It is Bromell’s recovery from injuries that has put the limelight on him.

“I must say, it’s something I’m looking forward to. He’s been a talent over the years and proven himself to be good. But he’s had some bad injuries. He’s showing up this season. I’m looking forward to seeing him in the Olympics,” Usain Bolt said.

Since the 2016 Rio Olympics, Bromell has suffered a series of Achilles injuries. In 2017, Bromell was an upcoming prodigy but didn’t compete in Bolt’s last race at the 2017 World Championships because of his stalled recovery. However, since going injury-free, Bromell has shown his speed. And from 2019, Bromell has become faster and his times are well below the 10-second mark.

“But let’s see what happens next. I’m keeping my eyes on Bromell because I know the times and seen the work. I’m keeping my eyes on next year and the years to come.”

Trayvon Bromell: From injuries to USA’s gold medal hope at Tokyo Olympics 2021

Despite not many appearances at the major athletic events across the globe, Bromell brings with him great promise. He is the first 18-year-old to breach the 10-second mark barrier and as a 19-year-old won the bronze medal at the 2015 World Championships.

Bromell is in the conversation for the Olympic gold because of timings in 2021. Back in early June, he clocked in 9.77 seconds at New Life Invitational. That is one of the fastest timings in recent years and would have been enough to clinch the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Later at the 2021 US Olympic trials held last week, Trayvon Bromell was on top with a time of 9.80 seconds, hence highlighting his credentials for the Olympic gold in Tokyo.
