Kante & Pulisic updates provided following Chelsea’s meeting with Liverpool
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has this evening provided updates on the wellbeing of both N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic.
Havertz on target
Tuchel and co. were of course back in action a short time ago.
The Blues made the trip to Anfield, aiming to keep alive their flawless opening to the new Premier League campaign.
When all was said and done, though, on the back of a hard-fought 90 minutes, Chelsea were forced to make do with a share of the spoils.
The capital giants actually took the lead in the clash, when Kai Havertz’s wonderful looping header found its way beyond Alisson and in at the back post:

The momentum, though, soon swung in the favour of Liverpool, as Reece James was sent for an early bath, before Mohamed Salah stepped up to slot away the ensuing penalty in style.
But Chelsea, to their credit, regathered their composure at the interval, before a defensive masterclass over the 2nd 45 ensured that Tuchel’s men emerged with a fully deserved point.
Kante latest
As such, though their perfect start to the season was ultimately brought to an end, the Blues no doubt departed Anfield satisfied with another impressive day’s work.
One concerning blow on an otherwise positive evening, however, was forthcoming on the personnel front.
After picking up an ankle problem late in the first-half, N’Golo Kante was ultimately forced to make way at the break, before being replaced by Mateo Kovacic.
In turn, speaking during his post-match media duties on Merseyside, it came as little surprise when Thomas Tuchel was asked for an update on the wellbeing of his star midfielder.
And the German went on to confirm that Kante has reaggravated an existing ankle injury, ahead of a potential spell on the sidelines:
Tuchel on Kante: “He is injured and needed to go out. He missed Arsenal for pain in the ankle but it was nothing serious. In this game, the opponent fell on his ankle and he had the same pain that he had against Arsenal. He couldn’t accelerate so we had to take him off.” #CFC

On Christian Pulisic, who has missed Chelsea’s last two outings after returning a positive test for Covid-19, Tuchel added:
Tuchel: “Pulisic is released today and will go to the national team if he can provide a negative test. We hope he can play some minutes.” #CFC #LIVCHE
