Kajol and Disney+ Hotstar Announce the Debut of the Actress’ Web Series with Hotstar Specials
Kajol and Disney+ Hotstar are teaming up for its first web series, the Disney Star-owned streaming service announced Monday.
The upcoming Hotstar Specials series will mark Kajol’s foray into long-form storytelling. The DDLJ actress had made her OTT debut with the 2021 Netflix movie Tribhanga.
In a statement shared by Disney+ Hotstar, the 47-year-old star said exploring a new format is always a challenge, but it’s “a good thing because I like to face challenges head-on.”
“Being an avid fan of digital series, the concept has always been intriguing; and after following cool shows like Aarya and Rudra, I knew there was no platform other than Disney+ Hotstar to start my series course,” added Kajol.
Gaurav Banerjee, Chief Content Officer at Disney+ Hotstar & HSM Entertainment Network, Disney Star, said the team was thrilled to have Kajol join them and “wow viewers with her ethereal screen magic.”
“With the beloved star, we are embarking on a whole new journey to bring a unique story of love, emotions and family,” Banerjee added.
Disney+ Hotstar has yet to share any details about the project, including the plot and the name of its creator.
Suparn Varma (The Family Man season 2) is reportedly directing the untitled Kajol series.
In a recent interview with PTI, Kajol teased her first series and said the series will begin production soon.
“I’m going to start the OTT show soon. It’s the story of a woman and her journey,” she said at the time.
