Juventus’ Matthijs De Ligt release clause revealed as speculation swirls
De Ligt a key part of Juventus’ backline
Dutch sensation Matthijs De Ligt has become a key part of an ageing Juventus backline in the past two seasons. Joining in a 77 million pound deal from Ajax in 2019, he has made 79 appearances for the Old Lady, netting five times.
However, the Turin outfit have been well off the pace so far this season, dropping points to European football rivals Napoli and AC Milan as well as stuttering to defeat to Empoli and a draw with Udinese.

Four games into the season, they sit in the relegation zone, surely causing some to consider their (and in this case their client’s) futures.
Release clause revealed
Speaking to Italian outfit TuttoSport, infamous agent Mino Raiola, of whom De Ligt is a client, hinted that a move could be on the cards this summer, revealing that:
“Matthijs de Ligt is one of the best centre-backs in Europe. He could leave Juventus at the end of the season. Transfer market sometimes works like this”

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano then took to twitter to reveal that De Ligt has a release clause in his Juve contract, that comes into play in the upcoming summer window.

The price, set at a mammoth 150 million euros, would smash the record deal for a defender, currently the 80 million pounds Manchester United paid for Harry Maguire. With the current economic climate hitting clubs hard in the pockets too, it would be surprise if anyone were willing to stump up that sort of amount for the dutchman.
