Juventus dealt double injury blow ahead of Chelsea clash

 

Italian giants Juventus have, on Sunday afternoon, been dealt a pair of blows on the personnel front, just days out from their crunch meeting with Chelsea.

The Bianconeri were back in action a short time ago.

On the back of a less than impressive opening to the new campaign, Max Allegri’s men welcomed Sampdoria to the Allianz Stadium, aiming to make it back-to-back Serie A wins for the first time in 2021/22.

And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what Juve managed.

Amid yet another concerning display, the Old Lady ultimately found the three goals required to emerge on the right side of a 5-goal thriller.

Paulo Dybala, Leonardo Bonucci and summer addition Manuel Locatelli were all on target, to guide the struggling Turin giants into the top half of the Serie A table.

Chelsea absentees

As outlined above, however, Juventus’ latest 3-point haul came at a cost, and a considerable one at that.

This comes with starting pairing Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata having both been forced to limp out of proceedings with respective injury problems.

The former’s proved particularly concerning, with the Bianconeri’s no.10 having been in tears in making his way off the pitch:

And the post-match update on the situation did not exactly prove of a much more encouraging nature.

Speaking to the awaiting media, Juve boss Allegri confirmed that both of his key attackers have now been ruled out of the club’s highly-anticipated Champions League showdown with European champions Chelsea on Wednesday night:
