Jurgen Klopp provides Fabinho update ahead of Manchester City vs Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp has provided an injury update on midfield general Fabinho following Liverpool’s win over Benfica.
The Reds faced off with the Portuguese giants on Tuesday evening and were able to come away with a 3-1 win, setting themselves up very nicely for the return leg at Anfield next week.
Ibrahima Konate opened the scoring for Liverpool 17 minutes in, heading home from an Andy Robertson corner. Liverpool doubled their lead less than 20 minutes later when Trent Alexander-Arnold played a sensational ball up the field to Luis Diaz who then found Sadio Mane before the African slotted into an almost open goal:
Oh WOW! 🤩

Benfica pulled one back four minutes into the second half via Darwin Nunez, but Luis Diaz then added the Merseysiders’ third with three minutes of normal time to play.
Following the game, Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Fabinho is fine but has a cut on the back of his head:
Klopp says Fabinho is “fine” but has a cut on the back of his head.

Manchester City vs Liverpool
The news Fabinho is fine will come as a big boost for Liverpool ahead of what is expected to be a season-defining game this weekend.
The Merseysiders take on Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon in a Premier League clash.
Should Liverpool win the game, they will go top of the Premier League with seven more game weeks left to play out.
If they lose, though, a four-point gap may be too hard for Jurgen Klopp and co. to overturn.
