John Wick: Chapter 4 Runtime Revealed, Set To Be Keanu Reeves-Led Franchise’s Longest Yet: Report

John Wick: Chapter 4 is said to be the longest episode of the action series. The next globetrotting hitman adventure directed by Keanu Reeves will run at 2 hours and 49 minutes with credits, according to a report. That length makes the film almost 20 minutes longer than 2019’s John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the ending of which saw our titular assassin being betrayed by the High Table. The news comes amid “Wick Week,” a marketing event, where instead of a Super Bowl game day ad, Lionsgate will air exclusive reveals daily, over the next five days. John Wick: Chapter 4 is set to hit theaters around the world on March 24.
“I’ve had people I trust and know say to me, ‘Well, that’s too long. Cut 20 minutes. And you’re like, ‘Okay, that’s your feeling is your opinion,’” director Chad Stahelski told Collider last year. “I mean, we wrote a longer movie. We wrote a bigger movie. We wrote a longer script. We wrote at least a third more scenes than the last one. It is expected to be more. ” THE John Wick the movies have gotten progressively longer since the original 2014 film, which was 101 minutes long. Its follow-up lasted 122 minutes, while John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum clocked in at 131 minutes. Regarding John Wick: Chapter 4’s longer runtime, Reeves promised “the most action” compared to other films in the franchise, including a “car-fu” segment. “There are 180s, 180s fore-aft, 270s aft-fore, drifts…So it was really fun to get a chance to learn those skills and play,” Reeves said in a post. interview last month.
Serving as a direct sequel, John Wick: Chapter 4 sees our titular hitman team up with the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne) in hopes of overthrowing the High Table organization that previously betrayed him. However, defying these authorities will require him to be a member of the organization – unraveling a web of secrets tied to his parents’ involvement in the assassin world. The upcoming film has the added responsibility of introducing Bill Skarsgård’s Marquis de Gramont, a high-ranking member of the council and the thorn in Wick’s quest for revenge. In an interview, Stahelski hinted that while Marquis isn’t exactly an antagonist, he’ll be tasked with “cleaning up all the mess from the first three movies.” Think of it as resetting the John Wick calendar. As for its implications for the future of the franchise, that remains to be seen.
Rounding out the cast of John Wick 4, Ian McShane’s crime lord Winston, Lance Reddick as Continental Hotel concierge Charon, Hiroyuki Sanada (Bullet Train), musician-turned-actress Rina Sawayama, Shamier Anderson (Stowaway ), Scott Adkins (Dead Reckoning) and Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption). The Continental, a John Wick The spin-off prequel series is also in development at Lionsgate, exploring the origins and inner workings of the exclusive assassin-only residence.
