John Moodey resigns from the DA

John Moodey, who is the Democratic Alliance federal leadership candidate has made it known to the public about his resignation from the party.

In 1998, Moodey joined the DA but started as the party’s provincial leader in 2012.

He has joined the list of people to resign from official opposition. The likes of Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba and former Mmusi Maimane are also on the list.

An emotional Moodey began his briefing by giving a narration of his political career’s evolution.

I’ve prided myself in contributing to the successes we’ve achieved in growing the DA in all race groups and taking the fight to the ANC right in their strongholds and stomping grounds, in standing against political intolerance and intimidation, making sure that we spread the DA message to every community and area, not only in Gauteng but across the length and breadth of South Africa.”

Moodey also said the reason for leaving the DA is because a lot has changed since he joined the party 22 years ago.

I have regrettably and after much soul searching reached the point where I am unable to defend these insensitive utterances and statements. The party’s lack of principle in failing to appropriately deal with redress in this most unequal society.”

Actually, Moodey was faced with charges for defending Maimane publicly.

He believed that the more he stays, the more unwarranted charges he will face.
