It’s official: Nothing Phone (2) will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8-series chipset

Nothing wanted to be left out of the media this week with all the announcements happening at MWC Barcelona, ​​so he started his teaser campaign for the upcoming Phone(2) in earnest.

We expect to hear tidbits of information about the new device over the next few weeks or months, as it’s a strategy Nothing CEO Carl Pei likes and has used many times before, including at OnePlus before founding Nothing. It all starts with the chipset. The Nothing Phone (2) will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 series.

Unfortunately, the company did not go into further detail. We’re naturally going to assume it’ll be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 powering the Nothing Phone (2), as is the case with many flagship Android devices releasing this year.

The Nothing Phone (2) will be launched in the United States according to Carl Pei himself and should arrive in the third quarter of the year, therefore between July and September. If that launch delay rolls around, there’s a chance it could use the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2, if that’s a thing that’s going to exist.

The news is not very surprising since we have already heard that, unlike the mid-range Phone (1), the Phone (2) would be more upscale. How high the top end is, however, remains to be seen. Is it going to be a flagship competing with the world’s Galaxy S23 Ultras, or rather a “flagship killer” competing with the world’s OnePlus 11 instead?

Let’s wait and see. Previous rumors spoke of the next device arriving with 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, a 120Hz OLED display, and a 5,000mAh battery. We’ll be curious to see if the transparent rear design will remain, alongside the Glyph LEDs.
