So far, the German has taken charge of six outings across all competitions.

In the Champions League, United earned a 1-1 draw with Young Boys, which was enough for them to secure top spot in their group.

In the Premier League, meanwhile, Manchester United had gone four games unbeaten, before losing vs Wolves earlier this week.

Five games without a loss suggested a decent start to life in Manchester for Rangnick.

However, a little bit more digging showed that was not really the case.

Firstly, vs Wolves, Manchester United lacked desire, energy and created very little, with previously top performers such as Mason Greenwood and Bruno Fernandes looking far from their best.

Before that, meanwhile, Manchester United scrapped 1-0 wins over Crystal Palace and relegation-threatened Norwich, before then only mustering up a 1-1 draw with a Newcastle side who have won just once all season.

Their only somewhat convincing win came against yet another Premier League basement dweller when they beat Burnley 3-1.

Maguire speaks out on Man United struggles

Now, ahead of the next set of Premier League fixtures, Manchester United are sat down in 7th place in the division.

The Red Devils could move to within a point of the top-four should they win their game in hand. But is this really where United fans thought they would be after bringing in Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo over the summer? Or should they have been fighting it out with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City for the title?

One man who seemingly is not too happy with the situation at United right now is Harry Maguire, who stated recently his side cannot keep playing like they are and that Manchester United must go on a proper run starting Monday:

“We are letting the fans down and have to come out fighting. This team finished second last year. We’ve a bigger and better squad this year so we have to show the right attitude.

“We have big players in the team, leaders. I am sick of repeating myself, but it can’t continue like this. We need to go on a proper run, starting Monday.

“I’ve obviously seen a lot of criticism and a lot of it is absolutely correct. From what the fans and ex-players have said, we get it. A lot of it is justified and we all have to take massive responsibility, myself as captain as much as anyone, if not more. We need to start winning and playing well as a team.”
