IPID tells Leo Williams family that it is seriously investigating death caseIPID have assured Leo Williams’ family that investigation into the death of their 9-year-old boy is seriously ongoing.

On Thursday, IPID’s executive director, Jennifer Ntlatseng, visited Williams’ family at the West Coast town of St Helena Bay.

Ntlatseng assured that the police watch dog is on the matter and has made it a high priority to ensure that justice is served.

IPID spokesperson, Ndileka Cola said Ntlatseng “gave the family the latest report in terms of how far the investigation process is, including that the ballistics report is still outstanding, the post-mortem report is still outstanding which is not in the control of Ipid.”

Leo Williams died last month after a rubber bullet hit his head during a police clash with demonstrators during a service delivery protest in Laingville community.

The 9-year-old boy was hit while he was watching TV at his uncle’s house in Laingville.

He succumbed to his injuries at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital after fighting for his life for about two weeks before he was taken off life support.

IPID is currently probing a case of death as a result of police action.
