Instagram is rolling out a new feature of reminder ads in ads, while testing another feature to bring ads into the category of search results. Ads and subscriptions are the two main forms of income for these social media platforms. Meta recently introduced a paid subscription service in the United States called Meta Verified. Apparently, Free Instagram has leaned heavily into promoting advertisers and integrating ads into its feed. The two new features introduced by the Meta-owned social media site will also focus on increasing advertisements on its platform.

In a blog post, Instagram mentioned that it recently collaborated with brands like Starz to test a new ad format that simplifies how businesses announce, remind, and notify people of upcoming events or launches. Reminder ads will be rolled out to all advertisers as a feed option. This feature aims to help advertisers raise awareness, anticipate and account for their upcoming events such as launches, premieres, etc.

Users can subscribe to reminders using a Call me back and choose from three different Instagram notification options – one day before the event, 15 minutes before the event, and at the time of the event itself. Once selected, the user will receive a push notification from the app at the previously set time as a reminder.

Instagram added that they are testing another feature that makes ads appear in users’ search results. When people access a post from search results, relevant ads appear in the feed that they can browse, according to the company. The social media platform is looking to roll out this feature globally in the coming months. Users can differentiate advertisements from regular posts by spotting a sponsored label under the handle of the profile.

It was also recently reported that Instagram is beta testing a feature that displays recently shared items between users on the Direct Message page. This would be intended to make it easier to access and share previously and frequently shared items with other accounts on a person’s followed list.
