Insight into Newcastle’s hefty Kieran Trippier outlay and a potential Chelsea hijack attempt

A fresh insight into Newcastle United’s move for Kieran Trippier has, on Monday evening, been forthcoming online.

Magpies hard at work

The name of English international Trippier has of course taken its place front and centre in the media headlines over recent days.

This comes amid the widespread understanding that the gifted right-back is inching towards a return to the Premier League, with Newcastle United.

Amid the club’s efforts to avoid the drop, the newly-minted Magpies are expected to target a whole host of high-profile reinforcements this month, to add to a severely under-performing squad under the watch of Eddie Howe.

Whilst links to the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Jesse Lingard have come and gone, though, one constant has remained – that man Trippier.

Chelsea not involved

And now, as alluded to above, a fresh insight into Newcastle’s efforts to finally tie up a deal with Atletico Madrid has been provided.

The info comes courtesy of Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports, who has confirmed that those in a position of power at St. James’ Park are, as expected, ‘very confident’ of making Trippier the club’s first January addition imminently.

The ex-Tottenham star is understood to have said his goodbyes in the Spanish capital, with an agreement, in principle having been found.

The predicted fee? A potential 30 million (presumably pounds).

Interestingly, it is also assured that, despite claims to the contrary on the back of Reece James’ long-term injury, European champions Chelsea currently have no intention of hijacking Newcastle’s Trippier swoop.
