‘I would like to apologize’ – Cristiano Ronaldo reveals classy gesture to fan after post-Everton outburst

Cristiano Ronaldo has taken to social media on Saturday evening, to send a classy gesture to a member of Everton’s fanbase.

Manchester United hitman Ronaldo of course saw his name take centre stage in the headlines earlier on Saturday.

Unfortunately for the Portuguese, however, this came for altogether less positive reasons that CR7 has become so long accustomed to.

This came as footage surfaced of the 37-year-old, en route back to the away dressing room at Goodison Park post-match, lashing out in the direction of an Everton supporter.

As showcased in the footage below, Ronaldo is understood to have slapped a mobile phone out of the hand of the fan in question, which went on to clatter against the ground outside the pitch-side tunnel:

As alluded to above, though, late on Saturday night, United’s talismanic attacker has moved to publicly reach out to the member of the Toffees faithful, by means of a social media post.

Taking to his official Instagram account, Ronaldo confirmed that he ‘would like to apologize’, before inviting the fan whom he evidently feels he wronged to attend a Premier League fixture at Old Trafford over the weeks ahead:

Gordon makes the difference

Ronaldo’s momentary loss of poise on Saturday of course came fresh on the back of what proved another 90 minutes to forget for Manchester United at Goodison Park.

Amid the club’s ongoing pursuit of a Premier League top-four berth, the Red Devils were put to the sword by a goal to nil.

The game’s telling moment was forthcoming just inside the half-hour mark, when Anthony Gordon’s effort from outside the area deflected off the unfortunate Harry Maguire, leaving David de Gea wrong-footed before nestling in the visitors’ net.

Relegation-battling Everton, in turn, have climbed four points clear of 18th-placed Burnley, whilst United, on the other hand, have slipped a full six points off the top-four pace.
