Arsenal are, of course, owned by Josh’s father, Stan Kroenke. However, under the Kroenke’s ownership, the north Londoners are still yet to return to their glory days and finishing inside the top-four of the Premier League each season.

However, when speaking recently, Kroenke stated that their goal is to be higher than sixth in the Premier League and that Arsenal fans should get behind their young squad:

“Now that we have 100 per cent of the club, we’ve had it only since 2018, we’re laying the foundations of a really bright future,” Kroenke said.

“I think if any of the Arsenal fanbase wants to look at our teams here in North America, which surprisingly they don’t do very often. I don’t think they don’t care, they are really curious as to how we do our operations. ‘How do you do this? How do you do that? How do you want to do this?’

“Really what I just say is we’re very proud – over here [in America] we draft and develop – at Arsenal we have an amazing academy, where these kids come through and work their way up.

“So you see the foundation of the culture that I talked about starting to take shape and I think you see it starting to manifest itself on the pitch.

“We’re sitting in sixth in the league, we need to be higher, our goals are to be higher, but to be there with the youngest squad in the Premier League, I think is something every Arsenal fan should get behind.”

Arsenal heading in the right direction

Though it may be hard for Arsenal fans to put too much faith in their current owners, the club does appear to be heading in the right direction.

Arsenal’s transfer business over the last year or so has been very solid and they now have a stable backline that is filled with players 24 and under.

Further forward, meanwhile, Emile Smith Rowe, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard – all 23 or under – are showing signs they can grow into top players in the years to come.

Granted there is still clearly work to be done, with a striker and central midfielder probably needed in the summer, but Arsenal do look to be heading in the right direction for now.
