‘I know because he told me’: Pascal Ferre makes Cristiano Ronaldo Ballon d’Or claim

2021 Ballon d’Or nominees

The 30 nominees for the 2021 Ballon d’Or would be announced in early October.

Unsurprisingly, the list is heavily dominated by Chelsea, who won the Champions League final, and Manchester City, who won the Premier League and reached the 2021 CL final before losing to Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Both sides have five players nominated, whilst the rest of the list features a lot of the usual suspects, such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski.

The full list is as follows:

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Ballon d’Or goal

Though yet to be officially announced, it has been reported that Lionel Messi is the winner of the 2021 Ballon d’Or.

If the leaks prove true, then this would see Messi further extend his record for most Ballon d’Or wins, which is currently 6.

Cristiano Ronaldo, though, is in second place with five and is unlikely to be pleased if Messi further extends his lead this year.

Especially if the latest comments from France Football’s Pascal Ferre, who hands out the trophy every year, prove true.

Speaking recently, Ferre claimed that Ronaldo’s only ambition is to retire with more Ballon d’Ors then Messi:

“Ronaldo has only one ambition and that is to retire with more Ballon d’Or than Messi and I know because he told me.”

Such a feat would prove increasingly hard for CR7, now 36, if Messi adds a 7th to his collection this year.
