‘I Am Ready’- Ciryl Gane Willing to Fight Francis Ngannou for the UFC Heavyweight Title

Ciryl Gane made a statement with his win over Alexander Volkov at UFC Vegas 30. ‘Bon Gamin’ is relatively new to the sport of MMA with just 9 professional fights to his name. And a record of 7-0 as a Muay Thai fighter. Gane made headlines when he started off his UFC career with a perfect 3-0 record with two wins coming via submissions.

However, his last three fights have further elevated his status in the division. In his last three outings, ‘Bon Gamin’ has secured wins over the likes of Junior dos Santos, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, and most recently, Alexander Volkov. He is right in the thick of the title picture at heavyweight. In the post-fight, he shared his thoughts on what is next for him in the UFC.

Gane said, “No I think today I prove it. I don’t need another fight for the title shot. I think this guy Volkov was a really great challenge to prove it. And I prove it, I did it. So tomorrow yes, of course, if the UFC want to match me for the title shot, I am ready.”

When asked if he would be willing to wait for his chance at the title shot, ‘Bon Gamin’ said, “I think we can wait, this is maybe going to help us to improve in some departments of myself. So yes we can wait, and I have a baby next month.”

Will Ciryl Gane get an immediate title shot?

The heavyweight division is buzzing with talent right now and there is a bottleneck at the top. Francis Ngannou is the current heavyweight champion and will defend his belt later this year against Derrick Lewis in a rematch. However, the likes of Jon Jones, and Stipe Miocic are waiting patiently in the ranks for a shot at the title.

Therefore, for Gane, a route to the title might not be as easy as it seems. The winner of the fight between Ngannou and Lewis will most likely take on Jon Jones if he is able to sort out his differences by then with the UFC. That fight will probably be towards the second half of next year which will be a lot of time away from the action for Gane. Therefore, he might be forced to fight once again if he were to get a firm grasp at a title shot.
