Huawei expands the TWS range with Freebuds Pro 2+

Yesterday, Huawei held a huge event where it showcased its conventional P60 series flagships and Mate X3 foldable top dog. That followed with the 2023 Matepad 11 tablet, Enjoy 60 mid-range smartphone, and FreeBuds 5 TWS headphones, but even then it didn’t. We also got the Freebuds Pro 2+ – an upgraded version of its most premium TWS headphones.

The Freebuds Pro 2+ are largely identical to the Pro 2, but add a few new sensors. These track heart rate and temperature, making them better suited to your active lifestyle. The company says it’s the industry’s first dual-type infrared and green light heart rate monitoring, enabling even higher accuracy.

Thanks to the added sensors, the left earphone has gained 0.2 g and now weighs 6.3 g against 6.1 g for the right and the existing one. Freebuds Pro 2.

Beyond that, it’s the same quality pair of TWS headphones that we loved so much in our review. You get a 52g case with a 580mAh battery (in addition to the 55mAh found in each earbud) that supports USB-C wired and Qi wireless charging.

You get an 11mm dynamic driver and tweeter mic, touch controls, and solidly capable active noise cancellation. The Bluetooth version is 5.2 and the whole thing is IP54 rated for protection against dust and splashing water.

The Freebuds Pro 2+ are currently up for pre-order in China with a price tag of CNY 1,399 ($205). Once official sales begin on April 9, the price will drop to CNY 1,499 ($220). Global availability will also be announced on April 9.
