Spurs appoint Antonio Conte

Tottenham have moved onto their third permanent manager of 2021 as they announced that Antonio Conte will be taking charge on an 18 month contract.

The former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss takes over from Nuno Espirito Santo, who was sacked on Monday morning following a 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.

The Italian turned down the role in the summer, but has pointed to Levy’s insistence as a reason he has now performed a U-turn, with Conte set to take Wednesday’s training session ahead of their decisive clash with Vitesse on Thursday in the Europa Conference League.

How Harry Kane has reacted to the appointment

One of the major transfer sagas of the summer was Harry Kane’s failed move to Manchester City, the outcome of which has coincided with a significant drop in form for the Lilywhites that has seen Kane net just one Premier League goal this season. But Conte may be set to change that.

Now, as per Alasdair Gold, chief Tottenham Hotspur correspondent for Football.LDN, Harry Kane is over the moon with the managerial change, reporting:

“The striker is absolutely thrilled by the club’s successful attempt to lure Conte to N17 and he is among many members of the squad who are very excited to work under the 52-year-old.

The striker is also believed to be very happy by the ambition of the move, with the ex-Juventus boss seen as one of the best managers in the game.”

Will the Italian be able to get the best out of the English forward, as he did with Romelu Lukaku when he was at Inter Milan? Tottenham certainly need his goals if they are going to mount any sort of European football challenge this season.
