How Tottenham can fix their striker problem, without having to sign a striker

Tottenham’s striker conundrum

Harry Kane’s desire to leave Tottenham this summer in search of trophies has been hanging over the north London club ever since he first mentioned it in May, but it is still no closer to being solved.

The striker was a second-half substitute for Spurs as they saw off Wolves 1-0 on Sunday, but could well still be playing in the sky blue of Manchester City come August 31st. With striking replacements Lautaro Martinez and Dusan Vlahovic both off the table for this summer at least, Kane’s departure would leave a seismic hole in Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

A winger in?

Perhaps the unorthodox answer to this conundrum, then, is to sign another winger. Spurs currently have Steven Bergwjin, Lucas Moura, Heung Min-Son and Bryan Gil who can all operate on the flanks, but as per Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold, are looking to add another option.

The man in question? None other than Nuno’s former player Adama Traore.

As per Gold:

“Tottenham are expected to try to bring Traore to the club in the final eight days of the transfer window because, without putting too fine a point on it, Espirito Santo loves him”

His return of just two goals and two assists last campaign show that Traore still has significant work to do on his end product, but his pace and power are well known to the Premier League.

In turn, this would allow Son to move alongside Harry Kane in a 4-4-2 formation, providing more central thrust, which would negate the need to bring in a second striker.

Would you be happy with this outcome Tottenham fans?
