
How to use Bing Chat on Windows, Mac, Android or iOS

2023 has already been a huge year for AI. The first month of the year was dominated by ChatGPT, before Microsoft integrated the technology into its Bing search engine and Edge browser soon after.
Access was initially very restricted, with only a small percentage of registrants able to try it. But widespread availability soon followed, and now anyone can try Bing Chat for themselves.
Each Bing Chat user is limited to 15 chats per session and 150 total chats each day, but that’s enough to put the AI chatbot to the test. Here’s how to get started on your desktop, laptop, smartphone, or tablet.
How to use Bing Chat on Windows or Mac
Of course, Microsoft wants you to use Windows 11 to access Bing Chat. That’s what we’ll be using for the purposes of this tutorial, but it also works on the Mac. Simply download Edge for Mac to get started, then follow the same steps as below:
- Open Microsoft Edge and go to bing.com/chat
- In the pop-up window that appears, click “Connect to chat”

- Enter the email address of the Microsoft account you want to use and click “Next”. If you don’t have one, click “Create one!” just below the text box and follow the instructions

- Enter your password when prompted and click “Next.” You will be taken to a screen similar to step 2, just with a message saying “Awesome!” You are on the waiting list’

- Check your regular emails for the entered email address and look for one with the subject ‘You’re in! Welcome to the new Bing!’
- Click the “Chat Now” button

- You will now be presented with the Bing Chat homepage. Choose from one of three conversation styles, then ask!

How to use Bing Chat on Android or iOS
Fortunately, Microsoft has also added Bing Chat to Edge mobile apps. We’re using Android here, but all of the steps below also apply to iOS:
- Download Microsoft Edge from Google Play Store or Apple App Store
- Once installed, open the app and log in to your account (or create a new one)
- Go to bing.com/chat and tap “Connect to chat”
- You should now see a message saying “You’re in!” Welcome to the new Bing!’. If not, find an email from Microsoft Bing and click the “Chat Now” button
- Back in Edge, click the “Chat Now” button again and start using it. You have the same choice of three conversation styles and can enter text using your voice or by typing
