How to Create Custom Christmas Videos for Free

The holidays are finally here, with large in-person gatherings back on the cards for the first time in three years.
If you’re looking to have fun with your friends and family, or send something fun to those who can’t reach you, a personalized Christmas-themed video is a great solution.
Sure, you can make your own, but that’s a lot of hassle most people could do without. If you’ve ever dreamed of becoming a famous carol singer, a snowman, or one of Santa’s elves, these apps and services make it possible.
Portable North Pole
Portable North Pole has been around for a while now, but it just keeps getting better. There are plenty of options if you’re willing to pay for a subscription, but the website and apps for Android, iOS, and Amazon Appstore (available on Windows 11) let you create a custom video for free.
Simply go to the website or app and select “Create my free video”. Enter your child’s first name and see if Santa can say his name. Otherwise, there are many generic names to choose from (such as “My Friend” and “Champ”).
Next, enter their birthday and a photo, as well as one of the existing descriptions. Select “Create Video”, then register or connect your Facebook/Google account.
After a few seconds, the short video will be available. It expires at the end of January, so all you need to do is download or share it before then.
Just make sure everything is correct before creating the video – you can only get one free per account. Paid options range from a one-time call for $4.99/£4.49 to the full range of features for $13.99/£13.99 per year.
elf yourself
Portable North Pole is designed for one person, but Elf Yourself means you can also involve friends and family. Each custom video features up to five different people strutting around like elves in a variety of different fun scenes.
To get started, simply head over to the Elf Yourself website or download the app for Android and iOS. From the main screen, just take new photos, add them from your camera roll or connect to Facebook/Instagram to get the faces you want to use.

Once you’ve added up to five faces and added a custom greeting (if desired), click “Let’s Dance” and choose from two free dances each day. Then download or share it like you would any video.

JibJab Virtual Cards
JibJab’s Video eCards can always be a lot of fun. One of our favorites is the Christmas version of the viral song Gangnam Style, but there are plenty of other videos to choose from. All of these videos can be personalized for free with up to five photos which are placed in the video in the same way as the Elf Yourself video.
