How the absent Mason Mount reacted to Chelsea’s win over Newcastle

Chelsea star Mason Mount has, on Saturday evening, provided his reaction to the club’s win over Newcastle United.

James at the double

The European champions were of course back in Premier League action a short time ago.

After coming into the weekend sitting pretty atop the English top-flight table, Thomas Tuchel’s men made the trip to St. James’ Park, aiming to maintain their advantage over the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.

And, when all was said and done, not only did they manage that, but Chelsea went on to open the gap at the summit even further.

A predictably dominant showing ultimately culminated in a 3-0 final scoreline, owing to a brace from Man of the Match Reece James, and Jorginho’s late spot-kick.

‘What a performance’

One sour note amid an otherwise stellar day’s work for Chelsea on Saturday, however, came on the personnel front.

Ahead of kick-off, it was revealed that Mason Mount was set to play no part in proceedings on Tyneside, owing to a bout of illness.

The English international’s absence was met with widespread frustration on the part of the Blues faithful, who were no doubt brimming with anticipation on the back of their midfield talent’s brilliant hat-trick against Norwich last weekend.

As outlined above, though, Mount himself evidently managed to keep his spirits high, taking to social media on the back of the full-time whistle this afternoon to congratulate his teammates on a job well done, and provide an update on his wellbeing:
