How Outcomes Of Previous NIES Summit Yielded Critical Development In Nigeria- FG

The Federal Government has demonstrated that the government, politicians, and oil and gas businesses have accepted and used the outcomes of previous meetings of the Nigerian International Energy Summit (NIES) to influence growth in the country.

Chief Timipre Sylva, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, announced this  in Abuja, while addressing journalists on the upcoming fifth edition of NIES 2022.

From February 27 to March 3, Abuja will host a symposium titled “Revitalizing the Industry: Future Fuels and Energy Transition.”

The minister said the summit resulted in a discussion about the government’s disengagement from Joint Venture cash call funding, which he highlighted as one of the meeting’s outcomes.

Timipre Sylva said: “The United States Trade Development Agency (USTDA) signed a phenomenal deal to finance the development of 1.35 megawatts power plant here in Abuja with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) at the summit.

“Key international and indigenous companies like Shell Petroleum and Development Company Limited, Total Exploration and Production, Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited, Dangote Refinery, Waltersmith Petroman and others used the summit platform to drive their aspirations and launch major projects.

“The Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives made definitive statements on the passage of the PIB at this summit,”
