How many games Liverpool forward is expected to miss through injury

Liverpool’s injury woes

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool return from the international break with more than a few injury concerns, ahead of their Anfield clash with Arsenal on Saturday night.

The Merseyside outfit will be looking to ensure that one defeat does not become two against Mikel Arteta’s side, after West Ham put them to the sword last time out. Should they lose, and results go against them, Klopp’s side could find themselves 5th in the league, and seven points off title pace-setters Chelsea.

And the international break looked as though it had taken its toll once more, with Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson all forced out of action for their respective nations.

However, the Reds have been handed something of a boost today in training, with a trio of players mentioned above all taking part in training.

Sadio Mane was fit enough to take part in full training, despite a rib injury sustained with Senegal, while James Milner and Jordan Henderson were taking part in individual training, alongside Harvey Elliot, who has returned to the grass after a horror injury sustained against Leeds United.

The latest on Roberto Firmino

There was less good news for another key attacker however, in the form of Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian suffered a hamstring injury against Brighton, and has missed Brazil’s fixtures this international break.

Now, as per the Athletic, the forward is expected to be out of action until Mid-December. Should he return in the second week of the traditionally busy month, he would miss the Merseyside derby, as well as the final two Champions League group games, where Liverpool have already qualified.

In total, this would mean Firmino would miss a further 7 games for Liverpool, with the potential for more, obviously, should his return be delayed further.

With Mane and Mohamed Salah both set to depart on Boxing day for the Africa Cup of Nations, Liverpool will be hoping it is not delayed much more than the middle of the month.
