How Karim Benzema is following in Roberto Carlos’ footsteps at Real Madrid in Champions League clash
Karim Benzema has followed in the footsteps of Brazilian and Los Blancos legend Roberto Carlos by making his 500th appearance for Real Madrid in their Champions League second leg against PSG.
Currently locked at 0-0 on the night at the Santiago Bernabeu, and trailing 1-0 on aggregate, Benzema will be hoping to mark the occasion by helping his side turn around the deficit against the French giants.
Seemingly still firing on all cylinders at the top level – he has been involved in 30 goals in 24 La Liga appearances this season- Benzema is almost certain to become the foreign player with the most starts for Real Madrid in their history, though he will have to go some way to match the all time appearance record for the club, currently held by Raul with 741 outings for the Spanish side.

Mbappe on the way in?
Currently, Paris Saint Germain boast the most lethal front line in world football, able to field Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in the same side.
However, it seems nailed on that Mbappe will be leaving the French side in the summer, with Real Madrid being his destination should he move on. It is expected that he departs PSG for free when his contract expires, despite the attempts of Pochettino and co. to keep the young star.
Should he join Benzema at the Santiago Bernabeu, and with the continuing improvement of Vinicius junior on the other flank, Real could well once more have a galactico frontline, and with two thirds of that front line still to hit their prime, they could be a European supergiant once more.
