How full-back pair Wan-Bissaka & Shaw left viewers baffled during Man United’s meeting with Wolves

Viewers of the showdown between Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers this evening have taken to social media in numbers, to take aim at full-back pair Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw.

    All square

Ralf Rangnick’s side are, of course, currently locked in action.

After getting their form back on track courtesy of a 3-1 downing of Burnley late last week, the Red Devils have welcomed the aforementioned Wolves to Old Trafford, hoping to make it two wins from two.

To say that such efforts have thus far not exactly gone according to plan, though, would be something of an understatement.

A flat, uninspired opening 45 minutes, across which visitors Wolves enjoyed much the better of things, ultimately culminated in the two sides heading in at the break locked at 0-0.

    AWB & Shaw targeted

Owing to the lack of genuine goalscoring opportunities to speak of to this point, it should therefore not come as all that much of a surprise to hear that viewers, over the course of the first 45, began nitpicking at incidents which, under normal circumstances, would likely pass without the bat of an eye.

One such moment was forthcoming late in the half, when Wolves were almost gifted an opener.

After rising deep inside his own half, Cristiano Ronaldo inexplicably opted to head the ball back towards his own goal, finding Raul Jimenez all alone in the United area in the process.

From here, the Mexican laid the ball out wide, with the chance, ultimately, having come to nothing.

Amid the concerning scenes at the back for the hosts, though, it was the actions of full-back pair Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka which, in fact, piqued widespread attentions.

This came as fans, of a Red Devils persuasion and neutrals alike, honed in on the fact that, bizarrely, both of the hosts’ starting full-backs immediately appealed for offside, after teammate Ronaldo, unchallenged, headed the ball back towards Jimenez:
