Hisbah officials arrest 648 beggars over street begging in Kano
Officials of Kano State Hisbah Board have arrested 648 beggars for allegedly violating the law on ban of street begging from February till date.
This was disclosed by the spokesperson of the board, Lawan Ibrahim.
The spokesman said the beggars were arrested around Bata Area Murtala Muhmamed way, Nasarawa Hospital, Railway Station and Yahuza Suya junction in the city.
Ibrahim disclosed that 416 females and 232 males were arrested during the raid.
The PPRO added that they will continue to arrest beggars who refuse to abide by the law .
“We will make Kano streets beggar-free.
”Those arrested have been screened and those who were are first time offenders, will be handed over to their relatives.
“Those who are not first time offenders would be charged to court.”
