Has a Man United teammate unwittingly confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo is set to miss Aston Villa clash?
The latest Fantasy Premier League efforts of Manchester United captain Harry Maguire spell altogether concerning news for the club’s fanbase.
Ralf Rangnick’s men are of course primed to return to action on Saturday evening.
After ousting Aston Villa from the FA Cup courtesy of a 1-0 triumph earlier this week, the Red Devils are set to face off with Steven Gerrard’s men once more in a little less than 24 hours’ time.
A Premier League meeting on this occasion lies in store, at Villa Park.
Visitors United will head into proceedings aware that nothing but a win will suffice, amid the club’s efforts to keep pace with the top-4 chasing pack.
This comes with the Manchester giants sitting 7th as things stand, adrift of all of West Ham United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Maguire drops hint
In turn, it will no doubt come as a concern for all associated with the club to hear that, late on Friday, concerns have begun to spread when it comes to the availability of a key member of Ralf Rangnick’s squad for tomorrow’s action.
The player in question? Cristiano Ronaldo.
Portuguese international Ronaldo was of course forced to sit out his side’s FA Cup triumph over Villa, owing to a minor hip issue.
Speaking earlier today, though, manager Rangnick appeared to hint that the veteran attacker was primed to return to the fold for United’s return to Premier League action this weekend.
But, late on Friday evening, a teammate of Ronaldo’s at Old Trafford has instead hinted that the Portuguese is in line to miss out once more.
In a piece of activity quickly picked up on by eagle-eyed players of the popular Fantasy Premier League game, Red Devils captain Harry Maguire opted to transfer Ronaldo out of his team, in favour of Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku:

Even more significant is the fact that Maguire’s decision came just 45 minutes prior to the Gameweek deadline, hinting that the call perhaps came based on the latest developments at Carrington on Friday evening:
