GTA 5, WWE 2K22 and more: new games in March on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X

From the remastered versions of the hugely popular GTA 5 and GTA Online finally hitting next-gen consoles, to the PlayStation-exclusive racing title Gran Turismo 7, players have a plethora of options at their disposal. . Action games take the front row as March sees the launch of most games in this particular genre – including fellow PlayStation-exclusive Ghostwire: Tokyo, wrestling title WWE 2K22 and action RPG title up and down Weird West, among others. Players will be able to play out fantasies online through role-playing games such as Elex II and Babylon’s Fall.

That brings us to what’s probably the only Nintendo Switch exclusive in March – Kirby and the Forgotten Land – which is the 17th title in the Kirby franchise.

We’ve put together a handy guide for you to decide which games to choose in March. These titles are available to play on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch.

Elex II

When: March 1
Where: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X

2017’s successor to Elex, Elex II is a vintage open-world RPG developed by Piranha Bytes. The story takes place several years after the first fight that saw the Hybrids bite the dust. Although, this time a serious threat from above threatens to unleash menacing powers and end all life in the fantasy world of Magalan. Jax, the protagonist, makes a return in the sequel and is tasked with convincing the factions to come together and fight this war.

Six years after the launch of Shadow Warrior 2, the sequel is one of the most anticipated titles this month. Shadow Warrior 3 is a first-person shooter game brought to you by Flying Wild Hog and Devolver Digital. Series protagonist Lo Wang returns in Shadow Warrior 3 and is ready to leap straight into the field with his beloved Katana, which can slice through enemies with a single blow.

The game introduces new movement options for Lo Wang with fascinating techniques such as aerial dashes, wall runs, double jumps, and more. Shadow Warrior 3 also brings a new grappling hook capable of bringing a new rhythm to combat. Lo Wang is still able to indulge in not-so-friendly banter during combat, which he also did in Shadow Warrior 2.

The fall of Babylon

When: March 3
Where: PC, PS4, PS5

Babylon’s Fall is a cooperative action-RPG that brings a new take on PlatinumGames’ signature fighting style (known for NieR: Automata, Bayonetta, etc.). The fall of Babylon released by Square Enix allows the player to take control of Sentinel which aims to scale a massive tower widely known as Ziggurat.

You can play alone or with three other friends as you fight your way to conquering the Tower of Babel. The game allows you to choose different playstyles and choose weapons depending on your approach. Players are given a device known as Gideon’s Coffin which allows players to carry two spectral weapons.

Gran Turismo 7

When: March 4
Where: PS4, PS5

Developed by Polyphony Digital and exclusive to Sony’s consoles, Gran Turismo 7 is the only racing game title on this list, and for good reason. The eighth Gran Turismo title will feature over 400 cars, 34 locations with 97 layouts, a car-themed resort, The Cafe that showcases automotive history with engaging visuals, classic tracks from the series, and more. The developers tried to bring music into a new format by introducing Music Rally events, where you can race your cars to popular tunes.

WWE 2K22

When: March 11
Where: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X

2K Games is set to release WWE 2K22 as the latest installment in the popular wrestling series, bringing back a popular GM mode from SmackDown vs. Raw titles, as well as a new MyFACTION mode that will debut with the upcoming title.

WWE 2K22 will be the series’ first wrestling title in two years since WWE 2K21 was canceled after WWE 2K20’s poor performance and also due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. WWE 2K22 is expected to feature Rey Mysterio on the cover.

GTA 5 and GTA Online

When: March 15
Where: PS5, Xbox Series S/X

Rockstar recently confirmed that it is working on a “new entry” in the Grand Theft Auto series, widely regarded as GTA 6. Meanwhile, Rockstar has managed to maintain a strong community behind Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online by a decade after the game’s initial launch.

Now players on current-gen consoles – PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X – will be able to play Rockstar’s popular GTA 5 with new graphics modes with up to 4K 60fps gameplay, new texture upgrades and drawing distance, HDR options and even ray tracing. GTA 5 and GTA Online will also take advantage of the new console generation’s faster loading times, advanced haptic feedback (for PS5 DualSense controllers), 3D audio, and more.

Tunic

When: March 16
Where: PC, macOS, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X

Tunic is an upcoming indie game developed by Andrew Shouldice and published by Finji. The game was first announced as Secret Legend back in 2015 – it was originally planned to release in 2018, but it’s stalled and will arrive now. Tunic is an isometric game run by a little fox. As an adorable fox, you explore the entire land while defeating enemies, collecting items, and uncovering various types of secrets on your journey.

Stranger from Heaven: Final Fantasy Origin

When: March 18
Where: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X

Final Fantasy debuted on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1987, and the upcoming Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is an alternate universe telling the original story. Published by Square Enix and developed by Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo, this action role-playing game is a dark interpretation of the original title.

The game follows the story of protagonist Jack Garland, who is driven by a desire to destroy Chaos – a demon and antagonist from the first Final Fantasy game. Players will face monsters from the Final Fantasy series, and the protagonist would be able to use both physical and magical attacks, according to Square Enix.

Ghostwire: Tokyo

When: March 25
Where: PC, PS5

Ghosts and spirits haunt Tokyo and the population vanishes almost instantly thanks to supernatural forces, known as the Visitors. Ghostwire: Tokyo’s protagonist, Akito, must ally himself with a powerful spectral entity as he masters several elemental powers and understands why people are disappearing.

Players will be able to use hand movements to cast spells to weaken enemies, exposing their cores for a quick kill. The game, developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda, is set to launch exclusively on PC and PlayStation 5.

The wonders of Tiny Tina

When: March 25
Where: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X

Another from 2K Games in March, Tiny Tina is essentially a spinoff of the Borderlands franchise. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a first-person shooter but contains elements of an action role-playing game. Supporting up to four players, the game also supports a split-screen multiplayer mode. In Wonderlands, players can create their own playable characters, unlike previous titles where they could only select default characters.

Starship Troopers – Terran Command

When: March 31
Where: PC

Based on the Starship Troopers film franchise, Starship Troopers – Terran Command is a real-time strategy game where players take command of mobile infantry to defeat the arachnid menace. The latest Starship Troopers title features an immersive storyline, dozens of unit types, terrain elevation, and more.

Weird West

When: March 31
Where: PC, PS4, Xbox One

As the name suggests, Weird West is set in the Wild West and revolves around cowboys. The top-down action role-playing game has many elements that make it interesting. One of them is that a player’s actions are permanent and cannot be undone by respawning. Developed by WolfEye Studios, Weird West is releasing on PC and latest-gen consoles – but can be played on the PS5 via backwards compatibility.

Editor’s note (03/04): The Settlers reboot was supposed to be released on March 17, but Ubisoft decided to delay the title indefinitely. It was therefore removed from the list.
