Granit Xhaka responds to Jose Mourinho’s personal advice to ‘get the Covid jab’

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has taken to Instagram to respond to the advice sent in his direction by AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho this weekend.

Mou reaches out

The name of Swiss midfielder Xhaka of course took centre stage in the media chatter on Friday.

This came amid the latest activity on the 28-year-old’s social media platforms.

After Xhaka returned a positive test for Covid-19 earlier this week, it was subsequently revealed that the Arsenal star had turned down the opportunity to be vaccinated against the virus.

Jose Mourinho, in turn, took to the comments section of Xhaka’s latest post on Instagram, to provide the former Borussia Monchengladbach man with some personal advice:

Mou’s efforts were inevitably put under the microscope over the hours that followed, with the Portuguese, of course, having sanctioned a swoop to lure Xhaka to new club AS Roma earlier this summer.

At one point back in July, it was even suggested that the oft-maligned midfielder’s move to the Stadio Olimpico was ‘imminent’:

‘Thank you’

In the end, Xhaka of course stayed put, before putting pen to paper on a new long-term contract at the Emirates.

It appears, though, that the bond between the Swiss and could-have-been boss Mourinho remains a strong one.

Xhaka, on Saturday, has responded to the plea of the Roma head coach for him to ‘get the jab’, with a message of acknowledgement:

‘Thank you mister’, the Arsenal man wrote on Instagram.
