Graham Potter quizzed on possibility of Brighton signing a striker in January

Graham Potter has addressed calls for Brighton to sign a striker in January.

Brighton are set to face off with West Ham on Wednesday the 1^st of December.

The Seagulls head into the game on a poor run of form, which has slowly seen them descend down the Premier League table.

Brighton did look to be one of the surprise packages of the 2021/22 campaign following a bright start. However, they have since failed to win any of their last five league matches.

West Ham, Brighton’s opponents on Wednesday, are also experiencing a slight decline having lost their last two outings, though a Hammers win does seem quite likely on Wednesday.

One of the main reasons for this is due to Brighton’s inability to score enough goals.

Throughout much of last season, Brighton underperformed their xG. And, in their 0-0 draw with Leeds over the weekend, this was the case again:

So, an obvious solution to this would be to sign a new striker as soon as possible.

But, when asked about the possibility of bringing in a centre-forward in January on Monday, Graham Potter didn’t seem that keen:

“It’s too easy to look for an external situation, but I understand when we’re not scoring that’s what people look at.”

Potter would also provide an update on Aaron Connolly:

“He’s suffered from a bit of injury, lack of form, confidence.”
