A tipster sent screenshots to The edge and shared the process required to add a new ID card to the wallet. Scan the front of the ID first > scan the back > take a short video of your face > submit it to the state for approval (in this case, the state of Maryland). The tipster was able to add their ID using the latest Google Play Services beta update.

Status ID support on Google Wallet would have worked on newer Google Pixel phones, as well as a Samsung Galaxy S20, though support between devices likely varies (although a Pixel might give more likely).

Android digital IDs on Google Wallet will be supported through a future Google Play Services update and will be supported on Android devices dating back to Android 8.0. Learn more about the process on the updated Google Support page.
