Google Pixel Fold will be heavier than the Galaxy Z Fold4, packing a bigger battery

Google’s first foldable smartphone has been rumored for a very long time now, but it should finally launch this year. We’ve seen it before in CAD-based renders, and today a new report talks about its weight.

Apparently, the Pixel Fold will be heavier than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold4, the device that will actually be its main competitor. This may be related, at least to some extent, to the other information that was unveiled today, which is that the Pixel Fold will have a bigger battery than the Samsung.

We’re not told exactly how much larger, only that “battery size will be closer to, but still well below, 5,000mAh”. Closer to 5,000mAh compared to the Z Fold4’s 4,400mAh and the Oppo Find N2’s 4,520mAh, that is. So we’re guessing around 4,700 mAh then?

For weight benchmarks, keep in mind that the Z Fold4 tips the scales at 263g. So, today’s rumor source tells us to think of the Pixel Fold as a small tablet in weight, which doesn’t sound that exciting given that it won’t be like a small tablet in size.

The image above allegedly compares the size of the unfolded Pixel Fold (red) to the unfolded Find N2 (green) to the unfolded Galaxy Z Fold4 (blue). Like the Find N2, the Pixel Fold’s unfolded display will be in landscape mode, not portrait mode like the Z Fold4’s.

According to a leaked roadmap of Google launches, the Pixel Fold is expected to go official at or “around” the Google I/O developer conference which traditionally takes place in May.
