Google may have downgraded the Pixel Fold screen, mass production should start in Q3

A new report suggests that Google plans to start mass-producing parts for its foldable flagship in the third quarter. Samsung Display in particular will start making foldable displays in July or August, depending on The elect. Google’s foldable project has suffered multiple delays over the past couple of years, so those plans aren’t set in stone.

There seems to have been a degradation of the screens. The Korean publication reports that Samsung Display will make a 7.57-inch foldable panel and a 5.78-inch panel for the cover screen. Renders from last month suggested 7.69″ and 5.79″ diagonals.

More worrying than the dimensions is the information that Google has settled for an older display technology – pre-Galaxy Z Fold3. 2021’s Z Fold3 skipped a polarizing layer, which made the screen thinner and lighter and (more importantly) easier to fold.

Additionally, stylus support is “unlikely”, which will remain exclusive to Samsung’s foldable flagship. There were suggestions of an advanced under-screen camera for the cover display, but that’s probably not happening.

While the Google Pixel Fold may not be as powerful and advanced as originally thought, it may at least be cheaper – a November report claimed it would cost $1,800 (compared to $1,400 claimed by some). one-year reports).
