Google Brings Incognito Tab Locking to Chrome for Android

Google has shared some tips for staying safe on Chrome for Data Privacy Day, which takes place tomorrow, January 28. He also revealed that Chrome for Android is getting a new feature, letting you lock Incognito tabs when you exit the app.

A new privacy setting lets you unlock these tabs with a screen lock, whether with biometrics, a PIN, or a pattern.

The functionality is quite simple. When Chrome is open and you want to use incognito tabs after locking the phone, you’ll see a prompt onscreen to use your preferred screen unlock method and verify that you have access to it. Public tabs will remain publicly accessible.

The feature is extremely useful for devices used by more than one person where one does not want others to know what is being browsed. This is what Chrome for Android has come closest to with different profiles for different users.

Google said the feature is still rolling out, so some users may have to wait a while to get it.
